Safeguarding Policy
1. Purpose and Commitment
At inTuition Academy, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in line with the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, and The Domestic Abuse Act 2021. We strive to create a safe and supportive environment where children can learn and develop without fear of maltreatment. Our aim is to take necessary actions to enable all children to achieve their full potential.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all staff, tutors, volunteers, parents, guardians, and students at inTuition Academy.
3. Accountability
inTuition Academy maintains high accountability standards in safeguarding children. We actively involve children and their families in decisions affecting their welfare and education.
4. Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
We have appointed a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to oversee safeguarding practices. These individuals are trained to handle safeguarding concerns and provide support to staff and students.
5. Safeguarding Practices
We follow safe recruitment practices, including DBS checks and verification of qualifications for all staff and tutors who interact with children. Ongoing supervision and safeguarding training are provided to ensure all staff understand their responsibilities.
6. Staff Conduct and Whistleblowing
Our staff adhere to a strict code of conduct that prioritizes the safety of children. We have clear procedures for reporting and addressing allegations against staff members. Our whistleblowing policy encourages the transparent reporting of any safeguarding concerns.
7. Reporting Concerns
All safeguarding concerns should be reported to the DSL. We ensure that all staff know how to recognize signs of abuse and neglect and understand the importance of timely and appropriate information sharing.
8. Data Handling & Training
We comply with data protection legislation to ensure the secure recording and storing of personal information. New staff receive mandatory induction training on safeguarding, and regular refresher training is provided.
9. Physical Environment and Online Safety
We ensure a safe physical environment for our students by adhering to health and safety regulations. Our online safety policies and procedures protect students in the digital space.
10. Anti-Bullying and Complaints
We maintain an anti-bullying environment with clear policies to address any instances of bullying. We also have an efficient complaint management system to handle any issues promptly and effectively.
11. Monitoring and Review
This safeguarding policy is reviewed annually or following any changes in legislation or standards. Regular audits and reviews help us continually improve our safeguarding practices.
12. Confidentiality and Information Sharing
We handle all information confidentially and share it only with those who need to know in accordance with GDPR regulations and safeguarding best practices.
13. Support for Students
We ensure that students who are victims of abuse or neglect have access to appropriate support services, including counseling and medical care. Referrals to external support agencies are made when necessary.
